About Us

From the Owner

Heather Jacobs

Owning my own store has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. It seems like everything that I have done, all the various jobs that I have had (even the seeming random ones!) has pointed me in this direction. After receiving a degree in Fine Arts, I have been everything from department manager to Regional Director in a major retail chain to Activity Director in a nursing home, to media/marketing specialist, to product development/buyer of an art supply company and lots of things in between. Being a single mom for many years, I also used my skills as an artist and sold my work to help supplement my income. I took bits and pieces of what I have learned from each position that I have held, hoping that one day I would be able to use that knowledge.

Then my happily ever after happened when I least expected it. I met my husband, the handsome prince that you always heard of but really doubted existed. Being the loving, amazingly supportive guy that he is, he encouraged me to go after that dream and, a few years later, here I am. I am now the proud owner of Amethyst & Ivy Boutique. I carry the things that I love, (and hope you will too!) from pretty handmade jewelry to that vintage skirt to those rockin jeans with the zombie on them! (I confess to a weakness for B horror movies and vintage or retro anything). The coolest thing about my boutique is that I am now able to offer other local artists a venue in which to showcase their work and hopefully help make their dreams come true as well!

Why Amethyst & Ivy? Amethyst is my birthstone and its my way way of saying thanks to my family for their support. Ivy is my favorite plant that I always thought was gorgeous but tricky to grow. But, with a little TLC it seems to love you right back by wrapping itself around wherever it is placed in a leafy green hug.
